Bem Sex Role Inventory
Sandra Bem developed a psychological test called the Bem Sex Role Inventory (BSRI) to explore her ideas about androgyny. The test consists of 20 masculine traits, 20 feminine traits, and 20 neutral items (distractors). When someone takes the test, they have to rate themselves on each trait using a 7-point scale, where 1 means the trait is almost never true, and 7 means it is almost always true. The scores for masculine and feminine traits are then calculated to determine an individual's level of femininity, masculinity, or androgyny.
