Behaviour Modification (in Custody)
Behaviour modification programs utilize behavioural principles, particularly operant conditioning, to rehabilitate offenders. In a prison context, this often involves implementing a token economy. In a token economy, good behaviour is rewarded with tokens that can be exchanged for desirable privileges like extra food or additional television time, while undesirable behaviour results in the removal of these tokens. This system aims to encourage positive behaviour through reinforcement and discourage negative behaviour through the loss of privileges, contributing to the overall rehabilitation of individuals within the prison system.
