A simple train and tree carriages that flex to cover multiple targets, played by a whole group of children, at completely different levels, all at once.
Built by a practising SEN practitioner for real mixed-ability groups. Story Train was designed to solve one problem: worksheets get ripped up and abandoned, this does not!
What makes it different?
Every game runs across multiple ability levels at the same time, so a non-verbal child, a child working on one word instruction, and a child working on a story with a clear beginning, middle and end can all play at the same time. Each working at their own level, from the same board. The only thing that changes is the level of instruction you provide each child.
What can it be used for?
Story sequencing
Level 1 - Pick 3 tokens, place on the numbered carriages, adult models a sentence for each
Level 2 - Place 3 tokens on the carriages, name or say a sentence about the token
Level 3 - Place 3 tokens in a sensible order, and tell a story with a clear beginning, middle and end
Vocabulary
Naming, describing, talking about the themes of tokens chosen
Prepositions
in, on, next to, under, behind, in-front
Counting
Level 1 - Place 1 token in each carriage
Level 2 - Match quantity to each carriage number
Level 3 - Count how many tokens are on the train
Level 4 - Simple addition and subtraction, how many tokens on the train, if i add 1 how many will there be.
Wh questions
Comprehension practise through direct questions - "what is in carriage 1?" "what might happen next?" "where is the train going?"
Ideal for:

Senco's
Speech & Language interventions
