Details: Product description Although there are basic similarities in the biological make-up of both aloe species, and both provide beneficial health properties, there are one or two fundamental differences. The yellow/brown aloe bitter sap which contains aloin, and an extremely strong laxative, plays a significant role here. This sap has to be removed from the plant material before it can be processed into a drink or juice, to meet the international maximum permitted presence of 5ppm. In the Cape Aloe, this substance is found in tiny rows of capillaries, just below the green outer skin of the leaf, so by peeling the leaves quite thickly, the bitter sap is easily removed. However, in the Aloe Vera, which is a much softer leaf in general, this bitter sap is found throughout the leaf and the most commonly used method of removing it, is by carbon filters. This invariably leaves the final product with a fairly strong chemical taste which is quite unpleasant. Due to the abundance of natural sugars in the Cape aloe, and our specially developed processing method, the Aloe 24/7 organic aloe tonic is a much thicker and more gelatinous product than any seen to date, produced with Aloe Vera. This is achieved without the aid of any thickening agents. Many Aloe Vera drinks include additives such as Xanthum Gum to try and achieve the viscosity which our Cape Aloe provides, naturally. Aloe 24/7 can be seen coating the inside of a glass - in the same way, it lines the entire digestive tract, allowing the amazing active ingredients in the aloe to impart their soothing and healing properties.
