Attachment Theory: Parasocial Relationships
The idea of attachment theory in parasocial relationships says that certain people are more prone to forming connections with TV personalities based on their attachment style. In a study by Cole and Leets in 1999, they discovered that people with an insecure-resistant attachment style were more likely to connect with their favorite TV personality. On the other hand, those with an insecure-avoidant attachment style were less likely to form these one-sided relationships.
