Father kills daughter in Akwa Ibom, buries corpse in shallow grave
Ime Sunday Etukudo was arrested by the Akwa Ibom State Police Command for allegedly murdering and burying his daughter in a shallow grave.
SP Odiko Macdon, the officer in charge of police public relations, stated that Etukudo murdered his 20-year-old daughter, Ofonmbuk Ime Sunday, for holding his manhood.
According to Macdon, a misunderstanding between the suspect and his daughter led to a fight.
In a statement released to the press on Wednesday in Uyo, the PPRO explained that Etukudo struck her daughter on the head with a stick, causing her death.
"According to credible information, one Ime Sunday Etukudo'm' of Omum Unyiam village in Etim Ekpo Local Government Area unlawfully murdered and buried his 20-year-old daughter, Ofonmbuk Ime Sunday, at the family compound in Omum Unyiam Village on October 9, 2022.
"The suspect stated that a family misunderstanding led to a fight in which the victim held his manhood, that he used a stick to hit her on the head, causing her death, and that he buried her in a shallow grave to cover his tracks," he said.
According to the police, a family patriarch named Edet Uyo Ntung was also arrested for murdering his nephew, Emem Monday, under the guise of settling an ongoing family dispute.
Also, on September 29, 2022, at approximately 1400 hours, Edet Uyo Ntung'm' was arrested for the murder of Emem Monday Uyo'm', both of Afaha Ediene village in Ikono Local Government Area.
Initial investigation revealed the existence of an ongoing family feud. The suspect, who is the deceased's uncle and family head, invited him to his residence under the guise of addressing the issue.
"Instead, he took out a machete and cut his face, hand, neck, and other parts of his body, resulting in his instantaneous demise," he said.
